Macro Photography

This photo has been taken from a low vantage point on top of a large stone casket in a grave yard, the camera was set in macro focus mode, this means that the foreground of the picture is in focus and the rest of the photograph is out of focus, giving a nice effect. The blurred background of the photo emphasises the top of the casket. The blurred section of the photo draws question as to what is in the blurred section and perhaps even what is engraved on the gravestone beyond the casket.

This photo is an example of Macro photography, as the leaf is very small, and the zoom and focus have been used to achieve this very close up shot of the leaf, which was not much bigger than a 2 pound coin. This photograph shows in detail the small stems of the leaf and the very small hole that has been eaten into it.

This photo is a good example of a shallow depth of field and macro mode. The macro focus means that again the close up leaves are in focus, and the path leading away is out of focus. To get this photo from such a low angle i had to lie down on the ground, to the effect that i was looking for in this picture. This picture also follows the rule of thirds by not having anything directly in the centre of the photo. The shallow depth of field means that we can see far back behind the leaves, although is blurred and not in focus, so the picture seem almost flat an two diminutional.
