This picture of the iconic Marlene Dietrich was taken by fashion photographer Giuliano Bekor in the 1930's. Marlene is lit from above, as if being looked down on by God, the lighting has emphasised her already prominent cheek bones, and draws attention the smooth contours on her face, with her eye brows drawn on and her eyes illuminated from above, we are presented with the modern archetype of beauty. The pose that Marlene is in makes her look innocent and almost trance like, with her delicate fingers caressing the bottom of her cheeks, and her eyes fixed on the light above.
