SOLVE SUNDSBO

Solve Sundsbo is a Norwegian born fashion photographer, at the beginning of his career he found it difficult to find jobs because of his unique style. He soon became the assistant of acclaimed fashion photographer Nick Night. With his teaching and influence Solve Sundsbo has become renowned and is viewed as on of the outstanding innovators of modern and contemporary photography. Sundsbo is regularly featured in publications like Vogue and other high end fashion magazines, he has also been employed by designers like Chanel, Cartier, Dior, D&G, Hermés, Levis, Nike and YSL. Some of Sundsbo's photo's are considered controversial, mostly because of the subject, how they are dressed and the poses that they are in, his photos follow no particular style, he has shot lots of different women and men for lots of different things.

This photo, taken by Sundsbo for a series of photos entitled FREAK. On this photo we see the quite
feminine face of model, Jacob Cuoupe, studded with rather masculine spikes. This presents a sharp contrast between  the feminine features of his face and the rough masculinity of the sharp spikes. This picture uses Rembrant lighting to exsentuate  the contours of Cuope's delicate and feminine face.

This photo has used shadows in an ingenious almost tongue in cheek way, to cover up the male models
privates. The picture also portrays a sharp contrast between rugged masculinity and the delicate female form. The very slim female model is precariously balanced atop the strong and muscly male model.
